This sapphire beetle has been captured at the moment of taking flight, Her white gold wings spread wide. 
Her body is composed of a deep blue sapphire weighing 4.57 ct. The chest and head are composed of two further sapphire cabochons. 
The stones have been set in blackened silver, to blend harmoniously with the dark blue.
The underside of the beetle is made of 18 karat yellow gold. The wings are made of 18 karat white gold, and the legs and twig are also made from 18 karat yellow gold.
